RANGERS SHOULD PLAY MORE DOUBLE-HEADERS...

The Rangers didn't get to play on Labor Day in Cleveland due to inclement weather, so they got to play two in a row today - and they won them both! The Rangers used Tommy Hunter in game 1 and Brandon McCarthy in game 2, but the story of both games was in the power hitting that helped the Rangers get 11 runs in the first game and 10 runs in the second one. Now they have a few hours to rest up before playing the Indians one last time tomorrow morning at 11:00 am -- That's right, 3 games in less than 24 hours...hope we are up to the challenge. Some highlights of both games are below:

- Rangers found their groove on offense. They scored 21 runs and had 31 hits in the doubleheader, erasing the ugly 15-inning scoreless streak left over from the final two games at Baltimore.

- HELLO Marlon Byrd! Byrd had a crazy good day where he raised his batting average 10 points in 2 games. In Game 1 he went 4-4, including a 3 run homer in the 7th. In Game 2 he continued to play terrific by going 3-5, and he ended up with 7 total hits for the night.

- Borbon Homeruns...twice. Borbon had his first multi-homer game in the major league today as he hit 2 solo homeruns in Game 1 of the double-header.

- Davis shows off his power stroke by going 3-4 in Game 2, including the all important 3 run homer that put the game away for the Rangers.

- Neither starting pitcher looked dominant tonight, but they had enough in them to hold the game and allow the offense to win it for them. McCarthy actually started out pretty strong until he faded in the 4th.

- Feliz scoreless streak ends. He allowed 3 hits in Game 1 and saw his streak of scoreless innings end at 20 1/3. The last hit was a soft double that tied the score at 5-5 before the Rangers would put the game away.

Current Standings:

AL WEST
Angels --
Rangers 4.5

AL WILD CARD
Red Sox --
Rangers 2.0
