Centerfielder Josh Hamilton didn't hurt his back with his fourth-inning slide into second base, although that didn't help things. Hamilton said his back starting hurting Sunday after playing on the artificial turf in Minnesota. He's been getting treatment for it all week, and hopes to be in the lineup Friday but he's not sure right now.
"I'm doing everything I can to make it feel better," said Hamilton, who doubled and scored before leaving. "It seems like the more I run, the worse it feels. It's good we've got a day off tomorrow."
Hamilton came out on the field for the fifth inning, but pulled himself out and was replaced by Marlon Byrd.
UPDATE [09.03.09) - Josh Hamilton saw the doctor today regarding his lower back pain. It was determined that he has a pinched nerve in his back. He was given a ‘root nerve injection’ to reduce the inflammation. He is scheduled to fly to Baltimore tomorrow and Jamie Reed will examine and evaluate Hamilton at that point. Hamilton is day-to-day.
