RANGERS WIN AGAIN! TAKE 3-4 FROM BLUE JAYS

Wow! What else can you say about the resiliency of this team. After losing 18-10 on Monday, this young team responded with 3 straight wins against the Toronto Blue Jays. Now that we are in September it becomes more important than ever to put the bad games out of mind and refocus on winning one game at a time. That's not to say it wouldn't be a great time to get on a hot streak. With both Young and now Hamilton out, it is time for everyone to step up and help us stay in the playoff hunt. Some highlights from tonight's win:

- Tommy Hunter was solid! He didn't pitch like an ace last night giving up 5 hits, but he stayed with it and settled down after giving up 2 runs in the 1st. He made it thru 7 complete innings with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks, giving up 4 runs and it was enough to get the job done.

- Elvis still gets my vote for Rookie of the Year. This kid has done nothing but impress this year, and he continued last night with a 2 run homer to give the Rangers the lead in the 5th.

- Congratulations! Nellie Cruz is the first Ranger to reach 30 Homeruns this season with a deep swing into left field for a solo homerun in the 6th. Overall he was 3-4 with 2 RBIs and his homerun in the bottom of the 6th help put the game away for us.

- Relief pitching was great! CJ Wilson came in and pitched a scoreless 8th inning with 2 strikeouts, and Francisco came in the 9th and closed out the game for his 3rd save in 2 days. Nice work all around.

What makes this victory even sweeter is that both the Angels and Red Sox finally lose tonight, bringing the standings to:

AL WEST
Angels --
Rangers 3.5

AL WILD CARD
Red Sox --
Rangers 2.5
