TEXAS STILL HAUNTED BY LAST YEAR'S LOSS TO TECH

One more time, Texas players were forced to revisit the play they would love to forget and still cannot avoid more than 10 months later.

One more time, they were quizzed about Michael Crabtree's 28-yard touchdown reception last season. That play dramatically altered the Longhorns' season and continues to have ripple effects today as Texas prepared to host Tech on Saturday.

For Tech, the score with one second to play cemented a 39-33 win over Texas and set off a memorable celebration as fans rushed the field, not once but twice. The Red Raiders eventually rose to second in the AP rankings, tied for the Big 12 South title and landed a bid to the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.

"A pretty special moment," Tech sophomore defensive back Taylor Charbonnet called it.

Yet the play stands out as much for what Texas left on the table. The Longhorns almost ran a gantlet that included Oklahoma, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Tech on consecutive weeks.

Almost.

  1. Haunted by that play indeed! And they always will be, no matter what happens in the future. I know as a Cowboys fan, I am still haunted by the 49er's Dwight Clark catch in the end zone to win a playoff game vs. the Boys.
Okay it is time to start pumping up Tech fans. Let's take Hook'em down again this year. I know they are the favorites but we have definitely messed them up in their own barn in the past! Go Tech!
