There wasn't alot that went right in the Bronx tonight, as the Rangers were manhandled by the Yankees all night for a final score of 9-2. Much like the 9th inning the previous night, the Yankees used walks and timely singles to run up the score in the 7th from 4-2 to 9-2. After that, the Rangers seemed to wilt and could not recover in the last 2 innings. Some post game thoughts below:
- Holland did not have his best outing. He didn't look awful, but the Yankees make him pay on the pitches he missed on. He fought into the 7th inning but couldn't get out of the inning, and was replaced by Jennings, who quickly allowed the game to get out of hand.
- David Murphy was the one bright spot tonight. Inserted into the lineup [with Marlon Byrd out with kidney stones], Murphy accounted for the only Ranger runs tonight with a RBI double and solo home run.
- Elvis delivered a terrific defensive play when he easily threw out A-rod at home plate. He also got 2 walks to get on base, although nothing came from that it is nice to see this young man bring his A game everyday.
Of course, since the Rangers lose, the Angels and Red Sox both win, so the standings are:
AL WEST
Angels --
Rangers 5.0
AL WILD CARD
Red Sox --
Rangers 2.5
