Jarrod Saltalamacchia has been shut down with more pain and numbness in his right arm.
Saltalamacchia had to come out of Sunday's game with Frisco on medical rehabilitation assignment after seven innings. Saltalamacchia said the numbness started returning around the fifth inning.
Saltalamacchia will be examined by a doctor on Monday but said it's 50-50 whether or not he has season-ending surgery. Saltalamacchia has Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, which means a rib bone is pressing against a nerve in his right shoulder and causing the pain and numbness in his arm.
He is still hoping to play but admitted that he has to be honest with himself and his teammates about his situation.
"I'm not giving up," Saltalamacchia said. "I tried 15 days and it didn't get better. It got better but not to the point where I can play nine innings."
